Mwanza Airport sits about twelve kilometres north of the city centre, roughly twenty minutes from the hotels along the lakefront. It is a small terminal, which is a genuine advantage — there is no long walk and no confusion about where to meet, and your driver will be standing inside arrivals with your name on a board rather than somewhere out in a car park.
